The proceedings of the Institute of Zoology began to be published back in the 1940s of the last century as collections containing articles on the results of research conducted by the Institute of Zoology. By 2011, 54 volumes had been published. Volumes of Works were published irregularly, sometimes every year, sometimes with a break of several years, and in 2011 two volumes at once. In 2021, the policy of publishing publications has changed significantly and a series of collections began to be published in the form of the journal “Proceedings of the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. Now it is an international journal dedicated to research in the field of fundamental and practical zoology, the publisher of which continues to be the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty, Kazakhstan). One volume in two issues is published annually in Russian with English and Kazakh summaries.
The journal publishes the results of original, innovative and integrative research on fundamental and applied problems of zoology, methodological developments, short reports, as well as reviews of recently published scientific monographs, works and books, science news, information about upcoming conferences and memorable dates. Main topics: theoretical and methodological approaches in zoological research; animal morphology; taxonomic revision and description of new animal taxa; evolution and phylogeny of animals; faunal and zoogeographic analysis/reviews; biology, phenology and ecology of animals; conservation of animal diversity; practical achievements in the management of animal populations with various social, economic and environmental impacts, as well as the sustainable use of animals.
